Barry Jurs

Barry Jurs currently serves as the Economic Development Director for Berkeley County. Mr. Jurs holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of Charleston and is a graduate of the Physician’s Assistant Program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Mr. Jurs has 30+ years of experience in working with Conservation Districts having been employed by the SC Land Resources Commission in 1984 and transitioning into the SC Department of Natural Resources in 1995. He has formerly served as the Farm & Land Services Director for Berkeley County providing local support to land owners.

Mr. Jurs is the past Executive Director of the Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust and is a former member of the Resources Advisory Committee for the US Forest Service through an appointment by the Secretary of Agriculture for the USDA. Currently he is the Vice-Chairman of the Berkeley Soil & Water Conservation District.

Mr. Jurs is a lifelong resident of Berkeley County and resides with his family in the Macbeth community.
